Welcome to Franklin Country
Welcome to Franklin Country

If a district is measured by its range of experiences, then Franklin is the ultimate  lifestyle destination combining relaxed country living with savvy city style, all just a short drive, south of Auckland.

Identified by its lush green boundaries, the Franklin area features olive groves, vineyards, market gardens and citrus orchards as well as urban settlements.

As a drive destination, Franklin offers wine tasting, kayaking, horse treks, fishing and jet sprinting. You can enjoy a range of markets; picnic in one of the secluded bays; paraglide over a black sand beach or shop in boutique-style stores.  Whether your preference is for time out, time alone or time spent with friends and family, Franklin offers something for everyone.

Franklin also provides a wide range of shopping experiences in each of its towns,  from home-ware and clothing boutiques to New Zealand arts and crafts, confectionery, antiques and collectables.  In addition, an eclectic array of cafes and restaurants provide a varied menu of taste opportunities served up with true Franklin hospitality.

For the younger family members, Franklin has beaches to play, swim or run on; a vintage railway, a zoo and wildlife park and the opportunity to explore Franklin’s very own limestone glowworm cave.

The accommodation experience in Franklin is a personal one with owner operators committed to ensuring that your stay is not only comfortable but also memorable. From exclusive lodge, country homes, bed and breakfasts, motels or holiday parks – the choice is yours.

We invite you to visit and experience, Franklin Country.
