Situated on Alexandra Redoubt Rd, Tuakau the Alexandra Redoubt was built in July 1863.
The 65th Regiment established the Alexandra Redoubt on a hill above the Waikato River immediately following the invasion of Waikato on 12 July 1863. From here the British aimed to secure control of the lower reaches of the river and protect the supply lines of the invasion force
It is the best preserved of all the military posts.
