If a district is measured by its range of experiences, then Franklin is the ultimate lifestyle destination combining relaxed country living with savvy city style, all just a short drive, south of Auckland.
The Karaka Historical Society - Karaka Vintage Day
Trailer rides, vintage chainsaws with 12-foot arms, fire engines and army trucks, shearing sheds to water pumps all driven by vintage engines plus more. Save March 28 for the 2010 karaka Vintage Day.
This will be the 6th year of the biennial event that will be held at the Karaka Sports Complex, with a high probability of display again spilling over into the adjacent fields.
It attracts may people - in fact, it is understood that they will have the larges diaplay of vintage stationary engines in the wider Aucland area at the Karaka Vintage Day.
Masport will have a large display this year as they celebrate their 100th year in 2010. Look out for their array of machinery.
Also look out for the 1947 vintage Bell helicopter on display. BEST of all, there will be a mock attach by a tiger moth and other vinatage aeroplanes, repelled by WW2 jeep in NZ colours and numbers, armed with 50mm and 30mm machine guns which will be noisy and interesting.
