2010 Fulton Swim School Primary Schools Triathlon

Organised by a committee, under the umbrella of the Franklin Primary Principals Association, the triathlon is open to all Franklin children of primary school age, providing an opportunity for local kids to get involved with one of New Zealand's most popular sports.

Held at Clarks Beach, children aged between 8 & 10 will complete a 100m swim, 4km bike ride and 1km run, while those aged between 11 & 12 will complete a 200m swim, 8km bike ride and 2km run.

Information and entry details are available at all local Primary Schools. A medal will be presented to each child who finishes the triathlon, and a goody bag for each child entrant.

Date:  Friday February 26

Location:  Held at Clarks Beach

Time:  Starts as 9:00am

Alexandra Redoubt

Alexandra Redoubt Road, Tuakau

The Alexandra Redoubt was built in July 1863 by a detachment of the 65th Regiment. It is the best preserved of all the military posts and was built in 1863 - 64. Further information about this historic site is available at Franklin i-SITE Visitor Centres.

The showgrounds comprise 50 acres close to the town centre. A two day Garden & Craft Show is held on the weekend prior to Labour weekend, and the annual A&P Show takes place on the third Saturday of February and the preceding Friday, with horse, beef
